Comparing PoolTrac and BlueRoute for pool route management, chemistry logs, and billing. BlueRoute software is free with no monthly fee.
If you are comparing PoolTrac alternatives, there are really two questions on the table. The loud one is the monthly fee. The quiet one, and the one that actually decides these switches, is what happens to years of chemistry logs, equipment lists, and service history. This page answers both, and adds a third question PoolTrac's own website raises: where does getting paid fit in?
From PoolTrac's own feature listing: a chemical calculator with English and metric units, log records, service calls and work orders, customizable min/max ranges, emailing log records with photos, tracking a second pool or spa at the same address, detailed equipment lists covering pool type, motors, and heaters, GPS tracking of employees on job sites, pool assignments by list or calendar, a map view of assignments, and a client app for Android and iOS 9.0 and up.
One factual note worth registering: iOS 9 shipped in 2015. A supported-OS floor that old says something about how long the client app has been in the field, for better and for worse.
Verified September 2026 from PoolTrac's own signup page. One caveat we will not hide: that page currently sits on a legacy subdomain of their site. It is live, current-copyright, and accepting signups, but if PoolTrac publishes different pricing elsewhere, this table updates.
| PoolTrac Basic | PoolTrac Standard | BlueRoute | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $25 | $60 | $0 |
| Commitment | Annual | Annual | None |
| Pools | 100 | 1,000 | No limit |
| Users | 2 | 100 | No limit |
| Customer invoicing and payments | Not mentioned on their pages | Not mentioned on their pages | Included: 3% cards, 1% ACH |
The annual commitment is worth sitting with. On PoolTrac, trying the software for a season means signing for a year. BlueRoute has no contract at any size; the model is spelled out on the pricing page.
As of September 2026, we could find no mention of customer invoicing, payment collection, or AutoPay anywhere on PoolTrac's feature or signup pages. The closest language is a line about digital work orders "ensuring accurate and timely billing," which describes service records that support billing you run in some other system. If PoolTrac handles payments and their site simply does not say so, we will correct this page the day we learn otherwise.
This is the clearest practical difference between the two products. On PoolTrac, the service record and the money live in different systems, and somebody reconciles them. BlueRoute is built around the opposite premise: the visit, the invoice, and the payment are one record. AutoPay collects without the office chasing anyone, and payment processing is the entire business model, 3% on cards and 1% on ACH, which is why the software itself costs nothing. The full math is in our payment processing breakdown.

This is the question that keeps operators on aging software: the records feel hostage. Here is how it works with BlueRoute. Export what PoolTrac gives you: customers, log records, equipment details. Send it in. Before anything starts, you get an honest read on exactly what carries over and what does not, so there are no surprises on your first route. The data and portability page documents what BlueRoute imports and, just as important, what it exports if you ever leave.
I do the PoolTrac imports myself. Send me your export and I will map your log records, equipment lists, and customers into BlueRoute and tell you before you commit what will and will not carry over. If something in your export cannot come across, you will hear it from me first, not discover it in the field.
- TommyThe features a PoolTrac operator uses daily are all in BlueRoute at $0/month: chemistry logging with a field-built LSI calculator, equipment tracking per property, work orders, route management with optimization, service photos, and customer texting. The full list is on the features page.
The model, spelled out on the pricing page: software is free, permanently, every feature included. BlueRoute makes money on payment processing only, 3% on cards and 1% on ACH, when your customers pay you through the platform. No subscription, no per-pool fee, no seat fee, no contract. If you never process a payment through BlueRoute, you never pay anything.
