Is there free pool service software? Yes. Comparing free forever, free trial, and freemium options for pool pros, including one that is free forever, not a trial.
Most pool service software is not free: it offers a free trial that converts to a monthly plan. A few platforms offer freemium tiers that stay free but cap how many pools or features you get. And one platform in this comparison is free forever, with every feature included and no pool or technician caps. This guide compares all three kinds of free, with every price taken from the vendor's own published plans. The full comparison table is below.
Yes. BlueRoute is pool service software that is free forever, not a free trial or a limited free tier. Every feature is included at $0 a month, with no per-tech or per-pool fees. BlueRoute makes money only when your customers pay you through the platform, at 3% for cards and 1% for bank transfers.
BlueRoute is not the only way to pay nothing on day one, and this page treats the others fairly. Pool Founder, PoolDial, and most major platforms offer full-featured free trials, and PSS is free up to 10 pools. What separates these options is not the first month. It is what happens after it, which is what the next section sorts out.
When people ask whether free pool service software exists, three different models get collapsed into one word. They behave very differently once your route is on them:
| Model | What it means | What happens when it ends | Verified examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free forever | The software costs $0 permanently, every feature included, no pool or tech caps | It does not end. The company earns revenue another way (BlueRoute: payment processing) | BlueRoute |
| Free trial | Full access for a fixed window, then a paid plan | You pay the monthly price or export your data and leave | Pool Founder (30 days), PoolDial (30 days), PoolTrac (30 days), Jobber (14 days), Housecall Pro (14 days) |
| Freemium | A permanently free tier with caps on pools, techs, or features | You outgrow the cap and move to a paid tier | PSS (free up to 10 pools, all features) |
None of these models is a trick. But they answer the question differently. A 30-day trial is free the way a test drive is free. A freemium tier is free until your route grows past the cap. Free forever means the bill stays $0 at 20 pools and at 400.
Pricing verified September 2026 from publicly listed plans.

| Housecall Pro | Free trial | 14 days | From $59/mo (Basic); cards published as low as 2.59% | No (general field service) |
No general field-service platform we checked offers a permanently free tier; Jobber and Housecall Pro are 14-day trials into paid plans. Among pool-specific platforms, the one free tier that exists (PSS) is capped at 10 pools, and every other free option is a trial clock. BlueRoute is the one platform in this table whose free option has no expiration and no caps.
One name that comes up in this search deserves a category note. Pooli is a homeowner-focused water testing and dosing app built around test strip subscriptions, and its Pooli Pro tier adds basic invoicing and customer management with a free level. Its published feature set does not currently include route optimization, a customer portal, or customer communications, so it is not compared as a pool service platform here. The FAQ below covers what Pooli's free tier actually includes.
An honest comparison names the tradeoffs, including ours.
Free trials give up time. Thirty days is enough to learn an interface, not enough to live through a billing cycle, a rainy week, and a route change. When the clock runs out you are paying the monthly price with your data already inside.
Freemium tiers give up headroom. PSS is genuinely free to 10 pools with all features, which is a fair on-ramp for a brand-new route. At pool 11 it becomes $49.99 a month, and the free tier's value ends exactly when the route starts working.
General field-service apps give up pool chemistry. Jobber and Housecall Pro are strong platforms for multi-trade businesses, but neither logs water chemistry, calculates LSI, or tracks dosing history. You would run a second tool for the half of the job that keeps pools clear.
Free forever with BlueRoute means payments run through the platform. BlueRoute's revenue is the processing fee: 3% on cards, 1% on bank transfers, published upfront, no per-transaction fee. If your customers pay by card or bank today, you are already paying someone a processing fee; with BlueRoute that fee is the entire bill. The tradeoff is that integrated payments run through BlueRoute Payments, and you cannot connect a third-party processor such as Stripe or Square for that.
The truly free stack is a spreadsheet for the route, a calendar for the schedule, and a free invoicing tool such as Wave. Plenty of operators start exactly there, and for a handful of pools it works.
What it costs is time and chemistry. There is no dosing history, so every green pool argument is your word against the homeowner's memory. There is no route ordering, so you drive the same neighborhood twice. Invoices go out when you remember, and getting paid means chasing. Expect several hours a week of admin on the spreadsheet stack, which is real money at any billing rate. Around 25 to 30 pools it stops being free in any sense that matters.
BlueRoute is funded by payment processing instead of subscriptions. When your customers pay their invoices through the platform, the fee is 3% on cards and 1% on ACH bank transfers. No per-transaction fee, no recurring-billing surcharge, no software bill on top. Payouts land next business day. The model is documented in full on the pricing page, and how payments and payouts are secured is on the payments and security page.
The economics are simple: a software subscription charges you whether or not you get paid, while a processing fee only exists when money reaches you. If you already accept cards or bank transfers, you already pay a fee in that moment. BlueRoute's price is that fee, and the software rides along at $0.
BlueRoute publishes this page, and I built BlueRoute. That is a bias worth naming, and this is how the page controls for it: every price above comes from each platform's own publicly listed plans, verified September 2026, and re-checked quarterly. Where a platform does not publish a number, the table says so instead of guessing. Competitor free options are described in their own terms, including the ones that are genuinely free within their limits.
Yes. BlueRoute is free forever: every feature at $0 a month with no per-pool or per-tech fees, funded by payment processing at 3% on cards and 1% on bank transfers. Beyond that, PSS is free up to 10 pools, and most other platforms offer 14 to 30 day free trials that convert to paid plans.
For a free option with no caps, BlueRoute: routes, chemistry logs with LSI, invoicing with AutoPay, customer texting, photos, and offline mode, all at $0 a month at any team size. For a route of 10 pools or fewer, PSS's free tier includes all its features. Homeowner apps like Pooli are free for pool owners but are not service-business software.
Yes, with a caveat about what it is. Pooli is a homeowner-focused water testing and dosing app, free to use and monetized through test strip subscriptions (its Pool Club plans run from about $109 a year). Pooli Pro adds basic invoicing and customer management for pros, with a free tier that limits pools and technicians and requires processing at least one payment a month at a 3% fee. Its published features do not currently include route optimization, a customer portal, or customer messaging, so it is a water-care app rather than pool service business software. Verified from Pooli's site, September 2026.
A free trial is full access on a timer, usually 14 to 30 days, after which you pay the monthly price or leave. Free software has no timer. The distinction that matters is the second one: freemium tiers stay free but cap pools or features, while free-forever software (BlueRoute) keeps every feature at $0 permanently and earns revenue elsewhere, in BlueRoute's case from payment processing.
Three ways, depending on the platform. Processing-funded platforms like BlueRoute earn a fee when your customers pay you (3% cards, 1% ACH) and charge nothing for software. Freemium platforms like PSS earn when you outgrow the free tier and upgrade. Trial-based platforms earn the subscription after the trial ends. Adjacent free apps have their own models: Pooli, for example, is free for homeowners and sells test strip subscriptions. If a product is free and you cannot see the revenue model, keep asking until you can.
